Who is Creative james Media?

I came across Creative James Media on Threads, and shortly thereafter, we became mutual followers of each other. With my curiosity about their work piqued, I decided to further explore their provided links. I took the time to check out their website, which displays a wide assortment of books as well as authors from various genres. The website is organized well and pretty user friendly, making it easy for visitors to navigate through their store and author section to learn more about the talented writers they represent. Along with their website, Creative James Media maintains a presence on several popular social media platforms, including Instagram, Facebook, X (formerly known as Twitter), and even YouTube.

Each platform serves a unique purpose in their overall marketing strategy, allowing them to engage with their audience in different ways. On their accounts you will find announcements, book cover reveals, interviews with authors, etc. On their YouTube channel, you'll find several videos featuring in-depth author interviews, where writers discuss their creative processes, inspirations, and the stories behind their works. Chapter Chirp: Tell me a little bit about your press and how your company got started?

Creative James Media: Creative James Media started in June 2019 by Jean Lowd and Rachel Burchett. Starting in the self-publishing world, we wanted to use our knowledge and expertise to help authors who desired to be traditionally published. We started publishing Young Adult and Adult romance books, but expanded to include fantasy, middle grade, historical, paranormal and horror. We have published over 70 books to date.

Chapter Chirp: What genre does your press primarily focus on and what about this genre does your company love?

Creative James Media: We publish a variety of genres, but the majority of our books fall into the fantasy category. Fantasy has a wide range of sub genres, and we have published in almost all of them. From epic fantasy, urban fantasy, romantasy, to humorous fantasy, the genre has something for almost all readers. CJM loves the world building and the unique characters found in these stories. 

Chapter Chirp: What kinds of services does your press offer?

Creative James Media: We do not offer services.

Chapter Chirp : How does the publishing process work through your press?

Creative James Media: Our publishing process is rather lengthy. Once a contract is signed books go through multiple rounds of editing. The interior is designed and authors receive galleys to review and make changes. The blurb is written with input from the author. We have two cover designers who design the cover in consultation with the author. Once book production is complete, authors receive a proof copy for one final review. Then the book is put up for preorder. All along the way, authors get input into the publishing process.

Chapter Chirp: What do you think makes your press stand out and/or what makes your company special?

Creative James Media: CJM is unique because we develop relationships with our authors. Our team is hands-on throughout the process and we keep the lines of communication open. Authors have a say in their blurb and their cover. We work together to market their book and lean on the knowledge and expertise of each other.

Chapter Chirp: Do you currently have any submission calls open and how can authors submit their work?

Creative James Media: Our submissions are closed until January 2026. We only accept submissions through QueryTracker.
