To date, I believe this is my first dabble into the sports romance sub-genre, a realm I had yet to explore until now. As I approached this book, I must admit that I was somewhat apprehensive about what I might encounter within its pages. With no prior experience in this specific genre, I entered into reading with an open mind, ready to embrace whatever narrative unfolded before me, while maintaining little to no expectations regarding the storyline or character development. To my delight, I was NOT disappointed!

What struck me most about this novel was how the sports element, while undeniably present, but played a somewhat minimal role in the overall narrative. This thoughtful approach ensured that even readers who may not be passionate sports enthusiasts could still find enjoyment and connect with the story. The author skillfully wove the sports aspect into the fabric of the plot without allowing it to overshadow the more profound themes of romance and personal growth. This balance made the book accessible and appealing to a broader audience, allowing for a diverse range of readers to appreciate its charm. The story itself was a delightful blend of relatable scenarios and spicy moments that kept me turning the pages, eager to see how the characters would navigate their obstacles and victories. The chemistry between the characters was palpable, filled with tension and excitement, yet it was also tempered with sweetness and charm that made their journey feel authentic and heartfelt. The author captured the nuances of their relationship beautifully, showcasing the ups and downs that come with love, ambition, and the pursuit of dreams.

I also believe the book contained what I think was the right combination of elements to really make this story an overall great read. From well-developed characters with relatable flaws to a plot that skillfully intertwined themes of ambition, friendship, and romance, every aspect contributed to a deep yet playful narrative. The dialogue was witty and engaging, allowing the characters to shine through their interactions, while the setting provided a comfortably home-y backdrop that enhanced the emotional stakes of the story. I can honestly say that my first foray into the sports romance sub-genre has proven to be a fulfilling experience, one that has opened my eyes to the potential richness of this type of narrative. I look forward to exploring more stories that blend the excitement of sports with the intricacies of romantic relationships, as this book has set a high standard for what I can expect in future reads.

The Review

“Only in Your Dream” a sports romance, focuses on a lost chance at love between twin sister of football player Parker Woods, Melody “Clover” Woods and high school football star QB and best friend of Parker, Zac Porter. I just loved the characters in this story. Clover starts off so down trodden and in the dumps after a horrible relationship but as the story progresses we see her really come into her own and regain her confidence and power. Then there is Zac, who gives swoon-worthy vibes as he continuously showers Clover with loving actions and keeps her on the goddess pedestal that she so deserves. The pacing of the story was perfect for what was a slow burn, second chance at love romance. There were some very spicy scenes that added to the romance in the best way. Definitely a great adult romance read, recommend.
