A book titled "The Lady of Tearsong" by Angie O'Reilly lies on a marble surface, near yellow glasses and an open magazine.

The Lady of Teansong was yet another lovely book from my birthday book bash drawing. If I remember correctly, it was the only book entered into the drawing that wasn't submitted by the author themself but by a relative of the author. I thought this was such a kind thing to do for the author and to my surprise it was one of the handful of books to be chosen. After looking into the background of the book upon winning it, I was really excited to dive into this one because if I'm being honest, this year seems to be the year of fantasy and romance as far as my personal reads have been going. These genres have been holding the top tier of my general reads so far this year and they have not disappointed even in the slightest.

What I really enjoy about the fantasy and romance genres is their ability to sweep me off my feet. They oftentimes have easily relatable characteristics that one could compare to their own life and therefore grasping readers with their raw and realness. Another fun aspect of these genres is their ability to transport you into a time and place that is not your own.  Whether it’s an adventure in a fantastical world or the tender moments shared between lovers, these genres have a profound impact by their abilities transport readers and allow readers to dream, feel, and escape into realms of possibility that enrich our lives. With all that said continue reading to find out my thoughts on this lovely read.

The Review

“The Lady of Teansong”, a story centered on two young people plagued by tragedy yet brought together by divine intervention. Lady Kallessa, is tortured by the death of her family while Prince Nevander of Dracia, is tortured by the loss of his men and scars he will forever wear on his heart from his time served during the war. The way their two hearts meet is unusual no doubt, but nonetheless they both offer something to the other that promises to heal the depths of their souls. This was an endearing book about the possibility of life and love after tragedy. The characters were vulnerable and raw. The story made my heart wrench at certain moments and laugh out loud at others and I enjoyed every minute of this book. It was a sweet love story whose ending didn’t disappoint.
